EDUCATION: 2016-2017

Prepared by Councillor Helen Miller This is a summary of my final report as the chair of the Six Nations Elected Council’s Education Committee. As the chair I attended numerous education related meetings locally, regionally and nationally to ensure that Six Nations was kept abreast of what developments were taking place and of any new initiatives. Unlike Six Nations, the majority of First Nations bands in Canada have taken over their education. During my travels I consistently heard these First Nations were hurting for money; that they had no money for Language & Culture and no money for Special Education.
