Celebrate Mother Earth with us

Earth Day is upon us. For over a decade Turtle Island News has been celebrating Earth Day with you and in that time we have added to the works of a global community determined to save the planet. In the past 11 years our readers have helped us plant thousands of trees and helped save the Carolinian Forests, “the bush”, that surrounds us. But is celebrating Mother Earth one day a year enough to stop global warming, keep animals like the polar bear off the extinction list or keep the waters clean? This week we watched while a northern community was evacuated because global warming is causing ice flows to melt and rivers to flood their community.
