NAIG official mascot makes anticpated debut

By Neil Becker Sports News With approximately three months remaining until opening ceremonies, the Toronto 2017 North American Indigenous Games committee have officially introduced their beloved mascot, Debwe the turtle. After much anticipation that big moment finally arrived when on April 13th, Debwe the smiling turtle was officially introduced and received a much positive reaction. Unveiled in Toronto, the turtle represents what has been described as a significant indigenous symbol, which was historically believed to have been present and a big factor in carrying life’s teachings on its back during earth’s creation. NAIG says the turtle represents truth, which is one of the many valued grandfather teachings which several Indigenous communities share.
