Six Nations Band Council threatens eviction after Ontario traps local farmer in political dispute over who controls Burtch

By Lynda Powless, Editor UPDATE: May 18 2017  5:20 p.m.  OHSWEKEN- Six Nations Band Council has served notice on a local farmer telling her to vacate the Burtch lands  recently returned to the Six Nations community. Senior Administrative Officer, Dayle Bomberry handed a notice to vacate the lands to Kris Hill today (Thursday, May 18, 2017) . Hill holds a lease from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs’ Council to farm the lands.  This is the third year she has been farming the former Burtch Correctional Centre lands. The notice orders Hill off the property,  warning if she does not leave an injunction will be sought against her.
