Three Six Nations women receive national awards and appointments

By Chris Pimentel Writer After six tries, Six Nations writer Dawn Martin was able to win the 2017 Senior Writing prize for the Our Story Aboriginal Writing and Arts challenge. Not only did her poem titled Kahnekanoron – Water is Life, take home first place, she also won an all expenses paid trip to The Banff Centre. As for Dakota Brant, this was the first time she submitted to the contest and her artwork titled “May Their Journeys Be Gentle” came away with second place and $1000 prize.
