Jays Care Foundation assisting Walpole Island

By Neil Becker Sports News Thanks to the Jays Care Foundation, last month’s National Aboriginal Day celebrations in Walpole Island won’t soon be forgotten. In what was the ultimate thrill Walpole Island received $140,000 from the foundation and used that along with contributions from other sponsors such as Union Gas and South Kent Wind Farm to get their two ball diamonds in top shape, which they proudly had on display during this past Aboriginal Day. “My biggest concern was always the kids,” Lee Jacobs who is a long serving volunteer for Walpole Minor ball said. “We had unsafe fences, we had pond sand in the infields which just hold water.” Following a couple of years working feverishly on upgrading the facility, that much anticipated moment for Walpole Island came when…
