Desperately looking to gain some momentum after getting off to an 0-3 start, the Hawks, who got a two-point effort from forward Hayden Hill celebrated what was a home 8-5 win against the Niagara Thunderhawks. “It’s a big one,” Smith said about the win. “Obviously it’s a big one. We didn’t want to start 0-3 but we knew we’d start to click.” Smith, who generated a plethora of offensive opportunities on this night made his presence know early on the scoresheet as he drew an assist on that crucial opening goal power play goal from Tycie Cowan which made it a 1-0 game two minutes into regulation.
