Chiefs make major roster shakeup

By: Neil Becker Sports Reporter There’s no question shockwaves were being felt among Major Series Lacrosse fans as the Six Nations Chiefs and Oakville Rock announced a blockbuster trade. The Chiefs, who lost against the Peterborough Lakers in last year’s MSL finals, traded forward Johnny Powless and last year’s fifth leading scorer Ryan Benesch, who notched 29 goals and 72 points, to Oakville in exchange for Eric Fannell, Ryan Wagner, Bryan Cole, Ian Mackay and a third rounder in the MSL draft. “This is an excellent deal for our organization,” Chiefs president Duane Jacobs said. “All four players address voids we needed to fill and all four are young thoroughbreds.” Jacobs went on to add, “To get this kind of speed and youth, you have to give something up.
