Six Nation man arrested for outstanding warrants

On Tuesday January 16, at around 1:00 p.m. an officer on routine patrol passed a Chevrolet pickup truck in the area of Blackburn Drive and Powell Road. The officer later learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen to Waterloo Regional Police Service. While Community Patrol Officers searched the area for the pickup truck they came across two stolen Cadillac Escalades parked on Powell Road. The first Escalade had been reported stolen from Niagara Regional Police on January 7, 2018. The second Escalade had been reported stolen from Halton Region on January 11, 2018.
As part of their investigation officers attended an address close to where the stolen vehicles were parked and spoke to a young man at the home. The young man spoke briefly with police and returned inside the residence. Further investigation revealed that the young man was wanted on two separate warrants of arrest from the Brantford Police Service. Officers returned to the home however received no response. Community Patrol Officers did observe and then followed fresh tracks in the snow which lead away from the rear of the home. The accused a 16 year old Ohsweken young man was observed fleeing on foot in the area of Powell Road and Blackburn Drive. The accused ran into a backyard on Powell Drive and jumped a fence. The accused was located arrested out front of an address on Mercer.
The accused was wanted by the Brantford Police on a Bench Warrant for Failing to Attend Court and Fail to Comply with an Appearance Notice. The accused was wanted on a second warrant for Possession of Stolen Property, Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Fail to attend court which was issued on January 3, 2018.
The accused was held in custody.
