Brant County OPP seize drugs and guns in traffic stop on Highway 403

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – Three men are facing  firearm and drug charges after a Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Hwy # 403 in the County of Brant at about 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 13, 2018 for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

During the traffic stop the officer was alerted to some items in the vehicle and an investigation was started. During the course of the investigation the officer located a quantity or marijuana and cocaine. Police also seized firearms that were located inside the vehicle and at the scene.

Police have arrested and charged 19-year-old Farid Rajabi and 19-year-old Merrick Barnham both of New Market, Ontario and 24-year-old Brady Patterson of Burlington, Ontario with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Occupy a motor vehicle knowing there is a weapon inside x 2
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of an imitation firearm for a dangerous purpose

And Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances act x 4.

All the involved parties will appear in Brantford Court at a later date to answer to their charges.
