Ian Campeau…on what “making it” means

By Chris Pimentel Writer HAMILTON-Ian Campeau was at the peak of his popularity touring with a Tribe Called Red, when he suddenly decided to walk away and change how he defined success. He talked to students at McMaster University recently telling them, for him the idea of “making it” changed. “Taking care of the community was sacred. The re-distribution of wealth was ceremoniously done through potlatch ceremonies so it takes away the idea of how much I can hoard, to how much I can give away,” said Campeau. He talked about his parents, and how his dad was always encouraging him to get into a trade while growing up. He was a punk rock fan at first and that’s where his love of music started.
