It’s now become official that starting in 2019, the Cleveland Indians will in fact be removing the controversial Chief Wahoo logo from their jerseys and caps. This decision, which was made following a series of conversations with Major League Baseball and Commissioner Rob Manfred was made due to strong complaints over the years that the iconic logo which is a big-toothed smiling red-faced caricature used since 1947 was racism and offensive. According to Manfred the Indians replied that some fans have in fact a “Long-standing attachment to the logo, but the Indians agreed that it’s “No longer appropriate for on-field use.” This coming season will be the last year for Cleveland to wear the Wahoo logo….
