Native Americans competing for 2018 Olympic Gold

By: Neil Becker Sports Reporter Following years of intense training, that moment of truth has finally arrived for four First Nations athletes looking to strike 2018 Winter Olympic gold. Among those who this month joined what is a long distinctive list of first nation athletes who have over time competed at the Olympics are Canadian women’s hockey player Brigette Lacquette, Team Canada right winger and former NHLer Rene Bourque along with Canadian snowboarder Spencer O’Brien and Canadian curler Kevin Koe. Lacquette, who is 25 years-old, put her name in the history books when back in 2018 she became the first Indigenous player to represent Canada on the Canadian Women’s Olympic team.
