Halifax awarded 2020 NAIG Bid

By: Neil Becker Sports Reporter These are exciting times for Halifax who have won the bid to host the 2020 North American Indigenous Games. On Thursday May 3rd. North American Indigenous Games, or NAIG for short, made history in officially announcing Halifax is the declared 2020 destination for Indigenous athletes. It marked the first time the Games will be held in Atlantic Canada. Halifax was going up against Ottawa and Vancouver to host the games. “Our doors will be open in Nova Scotia for all athletes, all people, from across North America,” said Wagmatcook First Nations Chief Norman Bernard who was also heavily involved with the Mi’kmaq Sport Council of Nova Scotia, who supported and helped Halifax bid for the games. “We’re very, very excited about this.
