Elections without rules

Nipissing First Nation is about to play host to hundreds of First Nations people with the opening of the 44th Annual All Ontario Chiefs Conference June 26-28. While the theme of this year’s conference may be “ Securing a Future For Our Children: Advancing Our Nations” everyone’s eyes will be on the election of the new Ontario Regional Chief. With just over a month to go before the elections, so far only Six Nations Chief Ava Hill has announced her intention to jump from a band council chief to the Regional Chief of Ontario’s spot. A win in the election will get her a seat at the AFN executive and with an election a month later in July of a new AFN leader, there could be a new face heading…
