Premier Ford combines Indigenous Affairs with Energy portfolio

By Lynda Powless Editor In what he calls a slimmed down cabinet Ontario Premier Doug Ford has combined Indigenous relations with the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines. The Progressive Conservative 21 person cabinet, was unveiled during a swearing-in ceremony on Friday.. But the biggest change is in the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation. Firstly, there is no more “Reconciliation” in the title and the Minister is now combined with Energy, Northern Development and Mines. The Ford government still considers Indigenous Affairs a stand-alone ministry, but it will not have its own dedicated minister MPP and now Minister Greg Rickford is responsible for Indigenous affairs, and the huge portolio of energy, northern development and mines.
