Driver dies after two vehicle crash on Second Line

Heavy fog Saturday may have played a role in a two vehicle crash that has killed a 42-year-old Haldimand County man after his SUV was hit by a pickup truck near Six Nations. The crash happened just before 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of Soursprings Road and Newport Road. OPP, County of Brant Fire and County of Brant Ambulance service were on scene and found a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a pick-up truck had been involved in the collision. The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were on scene. Tom Rathwell, who lives on Soursprings Road, said the pickup driver and several passersby called 911 and tried to comfort the man while they waited. “He was pinned in there, barely breathing,” said Rathwell.
