Cannabis where First Nations stand across Ontario

By: Justin Lethbridge Writer It is now legal to buy and consume cannabis in Ontario. Yet it is still illegal to purchase cannabis from anywhere except online from the Ontario Cannabis Store . Which means that for the many dispensaries located in First Nations throughout the province, nothing has changed. There have been raids and closures for many dispensaries across the country, yet the dozens of dispensaries in Tyendinaga have so far remained untouched. The Tyendinaga Mohawk Police force, which consists of just seven officers, doesn’t have the resources to begin executing raids on dispensaries and Police Chief Jason Brant admits that they won’t enforce anything until they receive direction from the legislative body on the territory.
