Who says framework is dead

The Assembly of First Nations is meeting in Ottawa this week with a full agenda, scores of resolutions an appearance by the Prime Minister and of course the topper the Who’s Who of Ottawa who attended their Christmas blast Tuesday night . While the two day session is meant to focus on a host of issues, at the heart of the assembly is the federal government led Recognition and Implementation of Indigenous Rights Framework. The Liberals had hoped to table a framework bill before Christmas and have new legislation in place by the fall election. But when First Nations balked at it the feds pulled it and now it’s anyone’s guess whether anything will be tabled in time for an election.
