Mississaugas of Credit to be invited to meet with HCCC over their claim to Haudenosaunee lands

The Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council is inviting the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation to meet to discuss their claims to Haudenosaunee lands across Southern Ontario. The HCCC was told Saturday a letter will go off to Mississaugas Credit First Nation Chief Stacey LaForme outlining their history with the Haudenosaunee and that Haudenosaunee predate the Mississaugas arrival in Southern Ontario.Legal adviser Aaron Detlor said the letter will remind the Mississaugas their presence at the Grand River was granted by the Haudenosaunee on the understanding there would never be a claim to the lands they are living on or attempt to dispossess the Haudenosaunee from their lands. He said the Mississaugas are also claiming all water bodies in Southern Ontario and lands all the way to London Ontario including Oneida lands.
