SNEC develops code both are aimed at combating federal registration overload By Justin Lethbridge and Lynda Powless Writers A battle over who is a Haudenosaunee/Six Nations citizen maybe brewing. Six Nations Elected Council says any new Six Nations citizens will have to have 50% blood quantum to be registered if the Six Nations Elected Council’s (SNEC) new citizenship code is voted in later this month. But the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council (HCCC) says citizenship is under their purview and Haudenosaunee citizenship is dictated by birth and adoption not blood quantum. The HCCC has already sent a letter off to the Governor General and Canadian officials reminding them the HCCC determines its citizens. Six Nations Elected Council hasn’t issued any official response other than supporting a Chiefs of Ontario resolution in July….
