Running through history with the 20th annual Tom Longboat Run

By Neil Becker and Lynda Powless – Writers Six Nations celebrated legendary Six Nations runner Tom Longboats 132nd birthday last week with the annual Tom Longboat Run . Proving that Longboat’s legacy is still strong, approximately 800 eager participants enthusiastically faced that grueling test of stamina as they either ran the five kilometer trail or biked 10 kilometers in what was the 20th annual Tom Longboat Run. Moments before beginning this event, participants, who ranged in age from pre-schoolers to senior citizens, witnessed history as five plaques were distributed with the help of Longboat’s great-grandson Will Winnie.
