By Neil Becker Sports Writer HAWATHA FIRST NATIONS – Life can’t get much better for Hiawatha First Nations athlete Nate Thompson. This 14- year-old Anishinaabe athlete is heading to Florida this winter to play football at the Pop Warner International Youth Super Bowl as part of Team Canada. Thompson, who stands at six foot two, is the only Indigenous athlete to make the team. “Not many Indigenous players get this chance so it just feels amazing,” Thompson said. “I like football because it gives me adrenaline and gives me that power. Going up against other teams that have better athletes than me, it’s a pretty good challenge.” Facing a huge challenge Team Canada will be competing against the likes of teams from Mexico, Panama and Finland to name a few….
