Women’s Healing Lodge Given Green Light

By Justin Lethbridge Writer SCARBOROUGH-Restoring Indigenous identity will be the core principle for the Thunder Women Healing Lodge set to be built in Scarborough. “Indigenous women have had their cultural identity wounded,” the project’s Board President Patti Pettigrew told the Turtle Island News. “They’ve been wounded by intergenerational trauma’s that have affected Indigenous people in this country for over a hundred years. Our hope is to help restore their identity so that they can take their rightful place in their homes and in our urban communities.” The healing lodge was unanimously approved by Scarborough’s Committee of Adjustment in on July 25th, 2019.
