Ethan Bear makes Edmonton Oilers opening night roster

By Neil Becker Sports Writer EDMONTON – Ethan Bear knows how to make an impression. Bear, who was raised on the Ochapowace Cree Nation in Saskatchewan, came into Oilers training camp fighting for a roster spot and opened some eyes after Joel Persson, whom he was competing with, suffered a shoulder injury. Showing his hunger to be on the opening night roster, Bear responded shortly afterwards with a two goal effort on September 26th during a 5-3 pre-season win in Winnipeg against the Jets. Last year, in the American Hockey League, Bear showed offensive flair scoring six goals and 31 points while posting an impressive +14 with the Oilers top affiliate the Bakersfield Condors.
