Six Nations Elected Council…so the work begins

Six Nations new elected council is off and running. With their first council session under their belts the new Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) appears ready to tackle any problems that come its way. And it can start by appointing a citizen’s committee to review its controversial election code. Six Nations resident Alaina VanEvery raises an interesting challenge to the current election code. A code that stretched council terms to four years and told anyone without a high school diploma they couldn’t run for council. At the same time she raises interesting questions about the autonomy and transparency of the Chief Electorial Polling Officer’s duties.
