New Six Nations Elected Council defers items, orientation to start

By Justin Lethbridge Writer Two weeks after the election, the transition from the last band council to the new one has not been smooth, despite a majority of the old guard being re-elected. Hanging over the new band council as they met were multiple appeals regarding the election as well as petitions to fire the current Chief Electoral Polling Officer and recall the election. In addition there are still concerns left over from the past council such as the multiple injunctions levied against Six Nations community members and a controversial Six Nations Cannabis Commission. Not too mention the continued spectre of Justin Trudeau’s Indigenous Rights Framework that remains over the head of Indigenous people across Canada.
