OPP SIU investigating after driver located on Newport Road taken to hospital

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) -The OPP Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in after a  Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) member  conducting traffic enforcement on Newport Road near Old Greenfield Road in the County of Brant Ontario on June 27, 2020 at approximately 8:10 p.m. spotted a vehicle that looked like it had been in an accident.

OPP said the officer noted a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation. Before a traffic stop was initiated, the vehicle was located on Newport Road between Old Greenfield Road and Sour Springs Road. It had been involved in a single motor vehicle collision.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries sustained in the collision.

The passenger in the involved vehicle sustained no injuries.

The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.
