Group wanting rallying to make Jim Thorpe sole gold medalist

By Josh Giles Writer In the 1912 Olympics, Jim Thorpe broke records in the decathlon and pentathlon winning two gold medals for the United States, but it was revoked shortly after. It wasn’t until 1983, thirty years after his death, that a movement began to make sure he is the sole winner of the event. The story goes that Thorpe dominated the events in such a way that was never seen before winning the event. It was later found out that he was being paid to play minor league baseball, which does not make him an amateur athlete. His gold medal was revoked and then given to former silver medalist, Hugo Wieslander of Sweden.
