Dallas Soonias finds joy in volleyball

By Josh Giles Writer Thanks to volleyball, Dallas Soonias has travelled the world. At a towering 6’8” frame, Soonias worked himself all the way to Canada’s national volleyball team. Now he’s working hard as the Head Coach of Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), he’s still having the time of his life. Soonias’ father is from Red Pheasant First Nation and his mother, an Ojibway, is from Cape Croker First Nation. Sports and competition ran deep in his family. “My brother and I played every sport, and my mother put us in everything she could. I even remember that she put me into jazzercise dancing.
