Rossland Warriors gets blessing to use team name

By Josh Giles Writer Like many other teams at every professional level, the Rossland Warriors have gone under scrutiny for their team name and logo that they’ve carried for a number of years. The B.C. based team’s logo is similar to the Chicago Blackhawks team that came under fire earlier this year so the Rossland Warriers decided to seek out the opinions of nearby Indigenous communities about changing the name. The team reached out to multiple places and it was the Osoyoos Band Council just west of them who wrote back after passing a motion unanimously approving the team keeping their name.
