Brandon Montour receives qualifying offer By Josh Giles Writer Brandon Montour has held his own in Buffalo this year. The 26-year-old defenseman has steadily improved during his time with the Buffalo Sabres and they appear to believe in him enough to extend a $3.5-million qualifying offer his way. There were rumours swirling around the hockey world about what the Sabres would do with him. There were thoughts he might get traded or a qualifying offer not extended at all, but since free agency started, Buffalo believes in his ability as a player. “We believe in Brandon, think he’s a good player and look forward to getting him under contract,” said Sabres Gm Kevyn Adams.
