Really, seriously. It is Treaties Recognition Week

It’s treaty week in Ontario. That’s right the province is celebrating Treaties Recognition Week and explains treaties as “legal agreements made between Indigenous people and the British Crown that define rights, responsibilities and relationships between First Nations and the federal and provincial governments. As one looks over the road blockades that Six Nations people have put in place at Caledonia to keep an army of OPP from removing them from unceded Six Nations lands being turned into a huge housing development that will not only border Six Nations but bring thousands of people on to the community’s doorstep one can’t help but see the irony in Ontario marking this week as Treaties Recognition Week.
