ASC announces National Indigenous Coaching Awards

By Josh Giles Writer On November 4, the Aboriginal Sports Circle (ASC) announced the 2020 National Indigenous Coaching Awards which are awarded to one male and one female coach who show huge contributions to Indigenous sports in Canada. The two winners are Veronica McDonald, and Richard Pellissier-Lush. McDonald is from Dene First Nations in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and has participated and built a lot to help out the Indigenous communities through sport. “She has acted with dedication and passion in her role as a Traditional Games Instructor with the Aboriginal Sports Circle of the NWT since that program began, training each instructor who has gone through the program,” the ASC said. “She also steps up regularly to officiate the Traditional Games Championships.” McDonald also founded Yellowknife Arctic Sports Club last…
