Apparently Six Nations Elected Council’s (SNEC) cannabis committee is having a public zoom meeting this week. The only notice was a note in Six Nations Elected Band Council’s scheduling. According to social media postings the local justice committee is also consulting with the community at the exact same time March 31st from 6-8 p.m. The clashing timeframes will definitely mean anyone interested in attending will have to chose between cannabis or justice? Interesting, since both would have overlapping issues. But what it also highlights is the difficulty in consulting the public. There is no question attempting public consultation during the best of times is always a challenge but during a pandemic, especially when limited notification questions any legitimacy to the process, puts that consultation at risk of being legally challenged….
Is there public accountability in a crisis
