Connecticut Sun unveil Indigenous themed jerseys

The Connecticut Sun have reached down to their Mohegan roots in order to bring some culture to the WNBA’s newest jerseys.

By Josh Giles Writer The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) recently collaborated with Nike to create a set of jerseys for each team for the 2021 season. They are known as the Heroine Edition, Explorer Edition, and Rebel Edition jerseys, which celebrate the cities and communities they represent through prominent women. The Connecticut Sun have their jerseys represent Indigenous culture. The Sun are owned by the Mohegan Tribal Council. “Nike collaborated with the Connecticut Sun front office as well as members of the Mohegan Tribe to refine the details of each uniform which embrace the rich history and symbolism of the Mohegan Tribe,” they said in their uniform unveiling.
