Oilers stand with Bear

Ethan Bear proudly represents his people and his heritage every time he hits the ice, and that doesn’t plan to stop.

By Josh Giles Writer Although a series sweep for the Edmonton Oilers was not what they were hoping for, it was quickly overshadowed by racist messages being sent to Indigenous defenseman Ethan Bear. During game four against the Winnipeg Jets, the Oilers were up 3-2, and fighting to survive, but a costly turnover by Bear let the Jets tie the game, and eventually win it in triple overtime. This led to many Oilers fans sending hateful messages to the player.
