Finding the children

It’s been 193 years but the Mohawk Institute Residential School is finally about to release its most horrendous secrets. In the grounds of the school, run by both the Anglican Church and federal government through its history, are the graves of children who never came home. At Six Nations families, and there isn’t a family that hasn’t been touched by the school’s tortuous history, need to prepare for what is to come. It was masked as a place of learning that in reality was a house of horrors of starving, abused children whose unanswered cries can still be heard as you walk through the building. Families know the stories of those that died in the schools and were buried there but it has taken 51 years since the “Mush hole”…
