COVID-19 battle will continue

COVID-19 cases and the delta variant are rising to dangerous levels in First Nations communities country wide. The numbers have increased 420 per cent and the Delta variant-driven surge is moving quickly. Yet still some communities, including Six Nations, have less than 50% of their population vaccinated or have received only one dose. There are those that simply haven’t had their shot yet for a variety of reasons but aren’t demonizing the vaccination process. And then there are those that are simply that have all kinds of theories and concerns. On First Nations reserves, as of September 2 Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) stats show: 35,760 confirmed positive COVID-19. 1,523 active cases. 1,710 hospitalizations. 33,841 recovered cases. 396 deaths.
