SNMHA cancels 2021/22 season

By Josh Giles Writer With the hockey season quickly approaching, the Six Nations Minor Hockey Association (SNMHA) made the tough decision to cancel their season. The announcement was made last Wednesday, and was not what people in the community were hoping for. “With the 2021/22 Hockey Season approaching, Six Nations Minor Hockey Executive is saddened to announce that they will be cancelling the 2021/22 hockey season,” they said, “The community and youth were at the forefront of our decision to keep everyone as safe as possible during these unprecedented times.” But, they did defend their reasoning behind the decision itself. “SNMHA was hopeful of being able to proceed with a season, however, with the announcement of the mandated OMHA (Ontario Minor Hockey Association) Vaccination Policy amongst other barricades and restrictions…
