Former Mohawk Institute Residential School grounds search to begin

By Victoria Gray Writer Community members are gearing up to start the long search of the grounds of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School for remains of students and the Six Nations Survivor Secretariat is looking for help from outside the community. Kimberly Murray, the executive lead for the survivor secretariat said community members are undergoing training to use ground penetrating radar (GPR) machines to start the search this fall, but she cautions the community not to expect results any time soon. “It’s going to take a long time, the search will probably continue longer than my contract.
