Roque to represent United States at Beijing Olympics

By Sam Laskaris Writer Indigenous hockey player Abby Roque will have an opportunity to win an Olympic medal next month. But Roque, a member of Wahnapitae First Nation in northern Ontario, will not be suiting up for the Canadian Olympic women’s hockey team. Instead, the 24-year-old will be playing for the American women’s squad at the Beijing Olympics, which are scheduled for Feb. 4-20. Roque was one of the 23 players that were named to the final U.S. lineup. USA Hockey announced the squad’s roster on Jan. 1.
