The bombing continues, people are dying and world leaders are gathering to decide how to keep one of their own in check without actually having to go to war. For Indigenous peoples the struggles of Ukraine mirror their own and memories that are still very much alive and relived as they watch as Ukraine torn apart by an aggressor sparks inherited memories of loss. Of loss of their lands and families and homes. Indigenous people are reliving their history in full colour on television sets. And not just inherited trauma. They continue to live those horrors in a modern century discovering Indigenous children who meant little or nothing to those that were their “conquerers” and the schools they hope would turn them from who they were into who they decided…
