By Sam Laskaris Writer It took a lot longer than he had hoped for. But Steve LaForme was able to fulfil a hockey highlight this past week. LaForme, a member of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, scored his first Ontario Hockey League goal on Mar. 16. The 19-year-old forward, a rookie with the Ottawa 67’s netted his first league goal in his squad’s 5-4 loss against the visiting Kingston Frontenacs. The match was held at the TD Place in the nation’s capital, Ottawa’s home rink. “It’s pretty awesome to get the monkey off my back,” said LaForme, who had to wait until his 37th game of the season to score his first goal with the 67’s.
