Kicknosway, the founder of Anishinabe Baagaadowewin (Anishinabe Lacrosse), was asked to be part of the Indigenous Heritage Night that the Toronto Rock, members of the National Lacrosse League, hosted on Saturday. The festivities included an NLL regular season game between the visiting Halifax Thunderbirds and the Rock, who play their home contests out of the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton. Organizers of the Indigenous Heritage Night included a halftime Wooden Stick Game, raising awareness for the sport’s history. And that’s where Kicknosway’s association came in.
