National Aboriginal Hockey Championships open at Membertou

The National Aboriginal Hockey Championships began Monday with nine games on the schedule, starting at 8 a.m. with the male division with Saskatchewan playing North. All the tournament games are at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre. Team Atlantic’s male team will kicked off the event at 8:15 p.m. playing Manitoba. The club are also on the ice Tuesday at 8 p.m. when they face British Columbia. The team, made up of players from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador, will play a pair of games on Wednesday. The club will face North at 8 a.m., and Ontario at 5 p.m. The remainder of the club’s schedule will be determined following round robin play. The bronze medal and gold medal games are slated for Saturday at 10 a.m….
