By Sam Laskaris Writer Indigenous musicians now have a pair of opportunities to be recognized with a national award. In previous years there was just one category – Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year – up for grabs at the JUNO Awards, which annually recognize the best of the best on the Canadian music scene. But thanks in part to a new sponsorship agreement from the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC), Indigenous musicians now have two of their own categories for the JUNO Awards. They are the Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year award and the Traditional Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year category. Musicians from across the country converged in Toronto for JUNO Week, which began May 9 and continued until this past Sunday….
