Ironmen advance to quarter-finals of national tournament for second consecutive year

By Sam Laskaris Writer For the second straight year the Six Nations Ironmen advanced to the quarter-final round before bowing out at a national tournament. The Ironmen were one of 40 men’s teams that participated in the 2022 Fred Sasakamoose Chief Thunderstick National Hockey Championship, which concluded this past Saturday in Saskatoon. The Six Nations squad posted a perfect 4-0 round-robin record and also won its first playoff match. But the Ironmen had their tourney come to an end on Saturday when they were downed 4-1 by the Saskatchewan-based Canoe Lake Young Guns in a quarter-final outing. The Young Guns, the 2021 tournament champs, had also knocked the Ironmen out of last year’s event. The Canoe Lake side advanced to this year’s final, which was won by the Norway House…
