Six Nations Public Works is hoping to fund a Community Energy Champion position for another three years, but Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) isn’t so sure it’s worth it. Michael Montour, director of public works, sought permission to apply to fund the position for another three years at the SNEC General Council meeting on June 14. The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) had previously funded the position with $150,000 total. The position’s funding will run out on December 2, 2022. Montour said he hopes to re-apply to the operator for funding for another three years at a total of $180,000. The deadline to apply is June 31.
