By Sam Laskaris Writer Indigenous athletes from around the world can now sign up for the 2023 Masters Indigenous Games (MIG). The Games, which will be held Aug. 24-27 in Ottawa, were founded by the Indigenous Sport & Wellness Ontario. The inaugural MIG were held in Toronto in 2018. Ottawa was originally scheduled to host the MIG in both 2021 and ’23. But last year’s Games were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. ISWO president Marc Laliberte, who is also serving as the chair for the Games, is pleased next year’s event will be going ahead in Ottawa. “We’re beyond thrilled to be hosting this event next August on Algonquin territory in Canada’s capital city,” he said.
